The Montcada castle and palace in Vic: New findings from the archaeological intervention in 2013

© Patronat d'Estudis Osonencs. The Montcada castle and palace in Vic is among the most unusual architectural ensembles in Catalonia. Its construction on a hill and reuse of the remains of a Roman temple made it a solid fortification with important components including a castle, palace, the house of the local administrator (veguer) and a prison. These endured from the Middle Ages to the end of the 19th century. Archaeological fieldwork carried out on this site has provided new information expanding existing knowledge and suggesting new research.
