The effect of immigration on intergenerational social mobility in Spain

The article discusses the effect of immigration on intergenerational social mobility, to what extent the immigrant population has reached similar positions in time with respect to native people? In this sense, does the thesis be raised on convergence in the long term? In addition, it should confirm the hypothesis of a fall in the rate of upward mobility of men and accentuation of masculine rigidity? Following the usual methodology based on the contributions of J. H. Goldthorpe, results show a significant downward mobility and an immobility of immigrants, reflecting a social integration mechanism where a subsequent, and waited, upward countermobility still is not observed. In terms of relative mobility, the arrival of immigration reflects a pattern of behavior of higher social rigidity that helps to moderate the fluidity trend of the native people, which have shaped specifically for women.
