Resumen

© 2017 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim The synthesis of a stable lithium phosphonium–sulfinyl yldiide was explored. The compound was fully characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The electronic structure of 2 was analyzed by DFT calculations, which indicated strong ylidic character. Yldiide 2 was stable enough to catalyze the hydroacylation of benzaldehyde. More interestingly, the Wittig reaction with activated ketones proceeded smoothly at room temperature owing to the presence of the lithium cation.
