Resumen

Despite the growing research on the player piano and the reproducing piano in recent years, there is still limited academic attention given to the phenomenon when considering its historical, social, and commercial significance. Academic works published to date often originate from the Anglo-Saxon and/or American context. One of the objectives of this volume is to highlight the work being done within the Ibero-American sphere, involving independent groups and researchers who have been working on the subject for years. These are regions where the player piano phenomenon had a significant impact, allowing for the exploration of important cultural, artistic, and sociological issues.
