Josep M. Castellet: Personal account of Castellet's collaboration with the Congress for Cultural Freedom

This paper presents excerpts from a series of interviews with Josep Maria Castellet conducted by the author in 2009-2010 on the subject of Castellet's collaboration with the Congress for Cultural Freedom. Against the backdrop of their historical and cultural context, the excerpts primarily address topics such as the issues relating to the organi-sation's covert funding, the controversies stoked by rivalries among various opposition groups, and the ideological and aesthetic transformations undergone by Castellet himself, as well as aspects linked to questions like solidarity, influence and intellectual freedom in the context of the anti-Franco struggle and the Cold War.
