N2 - Modern Greek Literature returned to Catalonia thanks to the publication of Nikos Kazantzaki's novel Christ recrucified, in a version of Joan Sales, in the collection «El Club dels Novel·listes». The effort by Sales and the intellectual group who took part in this important project of cultural renewal, began to bear fruit during the sixties, both in the field of literary creation as in that of translation. Christ recrucified «one of the most important Christian novels of all time», according to Joan Sales' words, appeared in October 1959. From then until 1980, the novel has been reprinted nine times, almost one edition every two years, which is to show the wide acceptance the book had.
