Resumen

© Policy Press 2016. An innovative investigative approach (STAVE), combining elements of research, engagement and brokerage, was used to uncover policy assumptions and daily experiences related to energy use practices. Exploratory work within three policymaker institutions and eight reconvened focus groups were carried out in three different European countries (France, Germany, Spain). All the groups explored active practices with regard to energy saving at household level, with the use of in-home display devices and smart meters additionally addressed in Spain and France. Insight gained by policymakers could be adopted to design, implement and tailor energy plans and policies to better support sustainability.
