Resumen
The most popular sports in the Botswana country are football, netball, and volleyball. Botswana won its first Olympic medal in the 2012 London Games. The Botswana Sports Commission, the Botswana National Olympic Committee, and their affiliates have repeatedly indicated the need to introduce psychological skills to coaches and athletes. Newspaper coverage of previous sporting performances of top Botswana athletes and teams have stressed that psychological support would enhance the quality and consistency of performances. The program in each city began with a formal speech by the president of Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) or the head of the Department of Physical Education, Health, and Recreation at the University of Botswana emphasizing the importance of the opportunity to learn psychological skills. This chapter discusses reflections on the popularity of the program, issues that influenced the running of the LifeMatters program, participant feedback and future directions.
