Resumen
HAAg (hepatitis A antigen) allows the differentiation of the virus A hepatitis from the HBAg-positive cases, and it will help in the study of evolution and prognosis of this type of hepatitis. HBsAg is a marker of viral hepatitis, and its persistence suggests chronicity in patients with previous acute hepatitis. Nonparenteral transmission of HBV seems likely, in view of what is known about HBAg. Studies of the core antigen and antibody are beginning; their clinical application does not seem important so far. The presence of e-antigen acts as a faithful marker of HBsAg hepatitis development.
