Resumen

The main goal of this study is to describe and analyze the acquisition of complex sentences by Spanish and Catalan speaking children, following a functional-constructive theoretical point of view. The two specific aims of the study are, first, to describe the acquisition of complex sentences in Catalan and Spanish, and second, to analyze the scaffolding effect of discourse in children’s progress towards the use of syntactic structures of increasing complexity.
