Descripción
European broadcasters, news agencies, and related corporations are known for high standards media content and information production, distribution, and consumptions and for the richness of their content archives containing a wealth of cultural, political, historical, and artistic content in various formats, including film/video, television, radio, and digital media. Nevertheless, digital platforms outside Europe already exert control over the media landscape, leading to a fragmentation of accessible knowledge within the EU. The potential of European richness remains under-utilised with the high risks for European audiovisual and news industries to lose competitiveness whilst the potential of high value archives and repositories represent a massive opportunity to expand the industry’s services, offerings and business. In this kind of scenario, the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies directed to the organisation and, thus, media creation of content through advanced techniques, is essential not only for the cultural sovereignty of Europe but also for the preservation and presentation of heritage, culture, education, and entertainment within a European context. Central to this initiative is the development of a prototypical European AI-enhanced platform, called MOSAIC, serving as a central hub for media content creators, distributors and consumers. This platform would enable the creation and consumption of multimedia content at the European level by integration of AI-based state-of-the-art mechanisms for consuming, searching, creating, and re-purposing multimedia content. By integrating multimodal search capabilities, advanced AI-driven content navigation, and custom AI-based machine translation for subtitling and dubbing, MOSAIC aims to create a platform that offers professional and non-professional users novel information experiences while maximising the potential of archival content: A cutting-edge platform will leverage multimodal Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, MOSAIC will revolutionise content discovery and consumption prototyping intuitive and immersive experiences users crave for. MOSAIC aims to cover experiences for all media domain stakeholders: broadcasters, publishers, news agencies, fact checkers, common citizens. MOSAIC tools and services tailored, integrated and offered, will focus on two key areas: Enhanced Content Navigation and Management, and Archive-Driven Content Innovation and Customization. Furthermore, MOSAIC platform will support an intuitive user interface (UI) that integrates seamlessly with the AI-powered search engine and will enhance user experience. Through features such as personalised recommendations, dynamic content previews, and interactive browsing interfaces, we aim to engage users and encourage the exploration of diverse media offerings.
