This research is qualitative. It is based on case studies and on the observation of the practice. It is a critical investigation, it wants to change the reality of the initial preparation to teach the historical time. It makes a proposal of conceptual structure of the historical time, with the help of the philosophy, history and the social sciences contributions. This proposal is used to investigate in the representations of teacher's students about the historical time. Thirty three students answered a questionnaire about the historical time. Nine students were selected and distributed in three groups. We have defined three groups of students: a) «a critical thinker and the builder of the future»; b) «an indifferent observer and a describer of the present»; c) «a deterministic thinker and an admirer of the future». These students elaborated didactic sequences related with the historical time. They made the practice and they carried out a critical valuation. The researcher interviewed the students and the teachers. He observed each student's two practical sessions. The conclusions indicate that the students with good representations of the historical time don't always make a good practice. On the contrary a good practice can modify some poor representations of the historical time. A final suggestion is to deepen in the conceptual proposal of the time. It is necessary the deconstruction and the reconstruction of the historical time's concept.
