    Abstract

    The development of the information and communication technologies (ICT) is growing rapidly, that’s why its integration in the teaching function is becoming complex. Many teachers feel disoriented when they have to deal with environments ruled by the ICT. The result is that continuous training of teachers is becoming a prerequisite motivated by the social and cultural context and by the technological advances. This investigation intends, in the first place, to evaluate the level of integration of the ITC by university teachers. Secondly, determine the most important factors in the transfer of the ICT training to the work place. Finally, a series of recommendations have been established to make the transfer of the received training to the work place easier. This study is framed in the mixed methods of investigation, due to the use of specific techniques of qualitative and quantitative approaching in the design. It has been taken into account the triangulation of techniques and agents. On the one hand, a questionnaire was given to 155 teachers who had participated in ICT trainings applied to the teaching function. On the other hand 19 experts and trainers in the area of ICT applied to the teaching function were interviewed. The results suggest that the teachers using ICT in their teaching chores, but have difficulties to generate conditions where technology, discipline and pedagogy are fully integrated (TPACK model). It has been proved that the capacity of teachers to integrate these three elements determines the implementation of the learnt knowledge in a context of ICT training. Having a solid pedagogical foundation is also a prognosis of the use of ICT in their teaching function after quitting the teaching context. Likewise, it has been observed that the use of the work context as a key factor for designing and developing the teaching action influences in the subsequent training transfer. This design contemplates the appropriateness of objectives, the trainers, the methodology and the contents to the real context of the of the participant’s work place. It means contemplating the development of a final product related with teaching in the training context and a subsequent following after the training. Finally, the need for incorporating to the training links between the participant’s discipline and the teaching strategies in ICT environments is established.
