    Abstract

    This thesis presents some basis for curriculum design for the training of translators and interpreters in Turkey. It consists of three parts. The first part is the training of translators and interpreters in Europe and the process of implementation of the EHEA and its requirements. In the second part, the pedagogical basis for the training of translators and interpreters are presented and made a proposal of BA degree in Translation Studies for training professional translators and interpreters in Turkey. The proposal, that we have made is based on the plan UAB studies program and it includes Spanish as language B and English / German / French as C, (it is a C language that is not learned from zero, so it can also be considered as a programme with two languages B). The third part of the thesis contains an exploratory study on the current situation of the labour market and the training of translators and interpreters in Turkey besides for gathering information on the proposal of BA degree. The study is aimed at professionals in the field of translation and interpretation consists of three main groups: translators and interpreters, teachers of translation and interpretation and employers of translation and interpretation business who also evaluated the utility of the programme and its competences. The means of data collection are semi-structured interviews, and evaluation.
