Abstract
Yo soy bea (Tele 5, 2006-07), the spanish version of the colombian telenovela Yo Soy Betty la fea, marks a milestone in the adaptation of foreign fction format, for its success and versatility. The ratings obtained allowed the program continuity beyond the end of the original screenplay, reaching 470 chapters and creating a gama of resources that fed other programs of the channel. However, the constant expansion of the storylines, and the changes introduced in the story, converted the transposition in an exercise which fnally transformed the text in a textual exercise characterized by its "disjoined nature" [desarticulabilidad] (Eco, 1994). This article analyzes the major formal and thematic changes to the story, that convert Yo soy Bea into a paradigm of the "traveling narratives" (Buonanno, 2006) at the very beginning of transmediality (Jenkins, 2006).
