Abstract

The xanthomas are characteristic cutaneous lesions due to tissular accumulation of lipids. Sometimes xanthomas are associated to lipid metabolism disorders and they could be a cutaneous marker for dyslipemic conditions specially those associated to atheromatosis. The recognition of the different types of cutaneous xanthomas as well as the dyslipemic associated disorder could promove preventive and therapeutic actitudes of great interest for the health of the patients. In this paper we review the cutaneous xanthomas associated to dyslipemia emphasizing the clinical diagnosis and the treatment of the associated metabolic condition.
