Women's sense of place in a multicultural neighbourhood in Barcelona (El Raval)

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleResearchpeer-review

Abstract

This paper analyses women's sense of place and belonging in the public spaces of El Raval, a neighbourhood located in the historical centre of Barcelona. Attention will be paid to discover to what degree the presence of quality public space fosters the creation of socially meaningful places, thus contributing to the construction of women's sense of belonging and urban identities. A qualitative approach, based on direct observation and in-depth interviews to women living in the neighbourhood has allowed us to study the women's sense of place and belonging.
