Abstract
We have investigated in great detail the infrared and Raman activity of CdGeP2. From experimental spectra collected at low temperature, we have first identified all 1, 3, 4, and 5 frequencies predicted by group-theory arguments. Second, comparing our experimental findings with theoretical predictions for the isoelectronic sequence In0.5Ga0.5P to InGaP2 to CdGeP2, we have discussed the relative strengths of Cd-P and Ge-P bonds compared with In-P and Ga-P, respectively. © 1991 The American Physical Society.
