Vencidas, violadas, vendidas: Mujeres Griegas y violencia sexual en asedios Romanos

War is one of the research questions that in recent times have received a main part of attention by the scholarship. Women, and their historical situation, of course, is a theme the scholars have paid attention for the last decades. This paper tries to mix both questions during the Ancient world, in order to resolve the position of the Greek women involved in wars and sieges. But sieges were not usual in Ancient Greece until the Hellenism, so we centered our questions in the confrontation between Greece and the Romans. Then, as a non-combatant group, however, Greek women could only have been involved in war during the siege of poleis. As victims of war, and as one of the best expressions of the horrors derived from warfare, the women were often used as a gift of victory, objects of pleasure, and victims of sexual aggression, rape and slavery.
