Abstract

The endocrine glands are regulated by feedback mechanisms mostly through hormones, which circulate in blood; their tight regulation maintains endocrine homeostasis in normal physiology. Irrigation of the different levels of the endocrine system from the hypothalamic–pituitary unit to the several peripheral organs (thyroid, adrenal, gonads) is essential and explains the profuse vascularization of these glands.
