Abstract

The TRP1 marker has been commonly used for gene disruption experiments and subsequent phenotypic analysis. However, introduction of the TRP1 gene into a trp1 strain markedly affects growth under many conditions used for phenotypic profiling. Therefore, its use in the past should be revisited and utilization of this marker should be avoided in future analyses. © 2007 Federation of European Microbiological Societies.
