Abstract

The Diels-Alder reaction of the acrylates derived from 9-anthrylcarbinol, bearing various substituents, with cyclopentadiene, is studied under several conditions, in the absence or the presence of a Lewis acid. The ratio of cycloadducts depends on the reaction conditions and a satisfactory diastereomeric excess was obtained in the catalyzed reactions.
