This paper shows the different types of use and appropiation in some publics spaces in Barcelona from a gender perspective and its impact in the daily-life of the residents. The public spaces studied are the Via Júlia, built up in the eighties in the neighborhoods of Prosperitat and El Verdum (in the district of Nou Barris), and the rambla del Raval, built up at the end of the xx century in El Raval (in the district of Ciutat Vella) in Barcelona. The research is based on the qualitative analysis (in-depth interviews to men and women and direct observation to the study areas) and tries to know the experiences and the opinions of inhabitants of these neighborhoods of Barcelona.
