Abstract
Crystallisation of [Pd(bedp)]Cl2 (bedp = 1,4-bis[2-(3,5-dimethyl-1-pyrazolyl)ethyl] piperazine) in DMSO affords the compound [Pd(bedp)][Pd2Cl4(μ-SMe)2], where the cation complex is mononuclear and the anion complex is dinuclear. The most surprising feature is the formation of the anion [Pd2 Cl4 (μ -SMe)2]2 -, as this anion has not been described in the literature. In this anion, each palladium atom is coordinated by two thiolate bridging sulfurs and two terminal chlorides. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
