Abstract

This work is the synthesis of a research report that has pursued two aims: in the first place, to explore migration trajectories of families migrating from Romania who are currently living in Catalonia and, on the other hand, to reconstruct the circumstances and conditions of social integration available to them in the receiving society with a special emphasis on the social and academic integration of their children in a selection of local areas. The results of this exploratory approach, which has been quantitative and ethnographic, are presented through a comparative perspective origin-destiny. In the final section of the text there is an introduction to new research questions in order to guide future stages of research by which we intend to contribute to filling the still surprising gap in the production of knowlegde in relation to Romanian immigrants in Catalonia.
