Towards a Critical Edition of the Libro del Conorte of the Abbess Juana de la Cruz (1481-1534)

Research output: Chapter in BookChapterResearchpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter deals with the complex conception history and structure of the so-called Libro del conorte (Book of Consolation) that codifies sermons held by the visionary Juana de la Cruz, abbess of the tertiary Nuestra Señora de la Cruz monastery during a crucial period of its existence. By providing an analysis and contextualization of this manuscript, this contribution argues for a collective authorship of the sermons in their present form. The argumentation presented here is reflective of a work in progress intended to end in a new critical edition of the Libro del conorte.
