Abstract
This paper shows that the Taylor dispersion flux is a dissipative flux of extended thermodynamics. Every term in the evolution equations for the Taylor flux components is connected to a thermodynamic function and the entropy production is proved to be positive definite. Thermodynamic restrictions on phenomenological coefficients are also satisfied. © 1993 The American Physical Society.
