Abstract
A new evaluation of the Cu-Cu2O part of the Cu-O binary system has been carried out using a simplified approach. The liquid phase is described using a partially associated regular solution model with one excess parameter. The simplicity of the model relies on the choice of the correct "size" of the associated species, permitting quite a good description, in spite of using less parameters compared to other models. The solid solution phase is described by means of an associated ideal dilute solution model with the choice of an appropriate reference state for the solute species. The results are in good agreement with experimental data. The model used is compared with the modified quasichemical one. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
