This paper aims to make an approach to the evolution of the practicum in the training of professionals in higher education in the last three decades, both from its conceptualization and from its practical approach.
The paper begins by setting some relevant milestones around three moments: 1. Where do we come from? The initiatory moments with the renewal of the curricula in the 80s and the new regulations of practices in professional scenarios. 2. Where we are? The Bologna process and the new articulation of the curricula in the new European reference curricular structures; changing to a skills-based training with respect to the previous disciplinary vision. 3. Where are we going? Increase-consolidation of the relationship /interaction between university and socioprofessional scenario. Work-linked becomes a new reference for quality practices/practicum.
Located these three moments, it is necessary to address some problems and challenges of quality practices/practicum. In this sense, the practicum is reflected as a space for the generation and transfer of professional knowledge, as a space for inter-institutional collaboration, as a time and space for the construction of professional identity and its design, development and evaluation, taking the learning contract as strategy and tool for that purpose.
