The perpendicular low-frequency susceptibility of Bi-2223/Ag tapes

Abstract

The low frequency susceptibility of Bi-2223/Ag superconducting tapes with the 61 filaments but different cross-sectional aspect ratio was measured. The measurement was carried out by using a designed and calibrated high-field ac suseptometer with necessary sample-length corrections. The result shows that the fill fraction was about 0.55 for the filament-containing core and the measured low-field agrees with the calculated critical state, when the core was assumed to be completely superconducting. It was also observed that the intergranular critical current density measured magnetically was much greater that the transport one, indicating a significant non-uniformity in the superconducting links among the grains.
