Abstract

This paper is focused on the medical knowledge of Alexander the Great in order to show its link to his well-know process of divination. Specifically, we show how Alexander changes from the Hippocratic Medicine point of view to a religious medicine, close to archaic iatromanteis. This evolution follows the military campaign: at the beginning, Alexander shows a pragmatic knowledge of medicine and, at the end; he is close to the archaic practice of medicine. We think that this evolution takes part of the Alexander's divinization process, which can be associated with Asclepius.
