Abstract

The action of [Et3O][BF4] with the mixture resulting from the reaction of the RCCR′ alkynes (R = R′ = Ph; R = Ph, R′ = Me) with [PPh4][HFe3(CO)11] in boiling THF or acetone leads to the formation of Fe2(CO)6(μ-CRCR′C(OEt)H) complexes as the main products. For the complex with R′ = Me, the X-ray structure of the complex shows that the Fe2(CO)6 unit is bridged by the organic fragment, which is η1η3-bonded through the carbons of the chain to the two iron atoms and also bonded to an iron atom through the oxygen of the ethoxy group. © 1989.
