Treatment of PPh4[Fe2(CO)6(μ-CO)(μ-C(Ph)C(Ph)H)] with Me3OSbCl6 gives the chloro-bridged derivative [Fe2(CO)6(μ-Cl)(μ-C(Ph)C(Ph)H)]. The structure of this compound has been established by X-ray diffraction. The title complex appears to be formed by successive methylation of bridging carbon monoxide and replacement of the methoxycarbyne by the chloride ligand. © 1986.
