Abstract

The addition of the atropisomeric racemic sulfur compound 1,1′-binaphthalene-2,2′-dithiol (H2L) to a dichloromethane solution of [{Rh(μ-OMe)(cod)}2] (cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene) afforded the dithiolate-bridged complexes [{Rh2(μ-L)(cod)2}n] (n = 2 1 or 1 2). These reacted with carbon monoxide to give the dinuclear tetracarbonyl complex [Rh2(μ-L)(CO)4] 3. The reaction of 3 with PR3 provided the mixed-ligand complexes [{Rh2(μ-L)(CO)2(PR3)2} 2] (R = Ph 4 or C6H11 5) and [{Rh2(μ-L)(CO)3(PR3)}2] 6 [R = P(OC6H4But-o)3]. The crystal structure of 6 was determined by X-ray diffraction.
