Abstract

The CpMCo(CO)7 complexes (M = Mo, W) react with alkynes in boiling hexane, leading to CpMCo-(CO)5(μ-η2,η2-RC≡CRʹ) complexes (M = Mo, R = Rʹ = H, Ph, SiMe3, C(O)OMe; M = Mo, R = H, Rʹ = SiMe3; M = W, R = Rʹ = Ph, C(O)OMe; M = W, R = H, Rʹ = C(O)OMe) in good yield. The CpMCo(CO)4(μ-η4-CR1CR2CR3CR4) compounds are obtained in boiling toluene (M = Mo, R1 = R2 = R3 = R4 = H, Ph; M = Mo, R1 = R4 = C(O)OMe, R2 = R3 = H; M = Mo, R1 = R2 = Ph, C(O)OMe, R3 = C(O)OMe, R4 = H; M = W, R1 = R2 = R3 = R4 = H, C(O)OMe), only one isomer being observed.
