Abstract
Stereochemical and regiochemical results on the alkylation of pentane-2,4-dione with benzyl and allyl halides, through its Co(II) complex in concentrated chloroform solution are interpreted in terms of the mechanistic scheme proposed in the preceding paper,1 and they suggest a fast starting material isomerization in the presence of cobalt species. Therefore, the reaction occurs under Curtin-Hammett preequilibrium conditions. © 1993.
