Abstract
The stability and hysteretic losses in superconductor-permanent magnet levitation systems were discussed. The stiffness and hysteretic energy losses were studied in a cylindrical system composed of a permanent magnet and a type-II superconductor (SC) of finite shape. The dependence of magnitudes on the aspect ratio of the SC was analyzed by including demagnetization effects.
