Abstract

In this brief review the fundamental role of solvent fluctuations in electron transfer reactions in solution is stated. The mechanism of outer-sphere bimolecular electron transfers is outlined and the usefulness of computer simulations for analyzing solvent fluctuations is discussed. Finally, the importance of dynamic solvent effects is mentioned. © 1995.
