Abstract
In this paper we analyze a group of Turkic ethnic names mentioned in the Tale of Igor's Campaign -a masterpiece of ancient Russian literature- with a controversial etymology, by comparing the opinions of various researchers on this topic and by presenting the results of an analysis of the text against its historical and literary context.
