Abstract
The lower sequence corresponds to siliciclastic lagoon facies, with lateral lacustrine and palustrine equivalents. These materials contain an impoverished fauna representative of abnormal salinities. Platform facies of the Santa Maria Group abruptly overlie the backbarrier facies. In the inner part of the platform there were sublittoral bars. This facies association is characterized by Rotalids, Milioliina and Textulariina foraminifera (especially in the shallower areas closer to the coast), and Rotaliina and small benthics in general. -from English summary
