Abstract

Hospital emergency department practice gives rise to special concerns that differ from those of practice in other sections of the hospital. This review aims to inform emergency physicians about the most common conflicts that arise from the perspective of legal and forensic medicine. The scope of the review encompasses diagnostic error, confidentiality, relations with the courts and legal authorities, and the documentation that accompanies transfer of a cadaver.
