Abstract

A phosphine-stabilizedsilacyclopropylcation2has been synthesizedand fully characterized.Ofparticularinterest,2reversiblyisomerizesinto thecorrespondingseven-memberedcyclic(alkyl)-(amino)silylene3at roomtemperaturevia a formalmigratoryethyleneinsertioninto the SiP bond.Althoughsilylene3has not been spectroscopicallydetected, its transientformationhas been evidencedbythe isolationof the correspondingdisilenedimer5aswell as by trappingreactions
