Abstract

The observed values of foreigners' residential segregation in the city of Barcelona are relatively low, even smaller than the obtained for other socio-demographic variables for the total population. On the contrary, the heterogeneity of situations is variable according to the nationality. This fact indicates the existence of different territorial patterns of insertion in Barcelona. These segregation values had little relation with other variables, especially with housing situation. Immigrant insertion in Barcelona is similar to other southern European cities, characterized by low segregation values and strong precarious housing conditions. © Copyright Scripta Nova, 2007.
