Abstract

In order to describe the Spanish correctional system, we will focus on five aspects: the constitutional rights of people who are accused of having committed a criminal offense, the main features of the criminal code, the use of noncustodial sanctions, the characteristics of the prison system, and the trends in incarceration rates.
