Abstract
There are so many economic phenomena to be analysed, so many ways of simplifying the same phenomenon to the point of reducing it to a manageable size, and so many methods available, that it is difficult to find unifying elements in the work of an economist. Such different studies as the role of education in longterm economic growth, the foresseable consequences of a tax amnesty, or the ability of different individuals to learn to reap advantage from their strategic behaviour can converge in the same department. Assorted techniques are used for these studies, ranging from controller experiments to statistical and econometrical data processing and highly-stabilised data stimulation.
