Abstract
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Documents d'Anàlisi Geogràfica (DAG) (1982-2022), and considering the unification of the three previous series: Documents d'Anàlisi Urbana, Documents d'Anàlisi Territorial and Documents d'Anàlisi Metodològica en Geografia (years 1974 to 1981), we want to reflect on the scientific contributions of the journal to the academic debate on geography. Originating from the commitment to produce a quality, innovative, open and critical journal that would introduce the theoretical, conceptual and methodological advances of the discipline, DAG has contributed to the transformation of geography and has largely maintained the critical attitude that has characterized the publications of the first years. However, shortcomings have been detected in some debates that have marked our society as well the need to address in depth some disciplinary fields and new topics of study.
