Pseudo acute abdomen in cirrhosis of the liver

Abstract

If a clinical picture of acute abdomen develops in a patient with cirrhosis of the liver, complication in the terminal phase of the cirrhosis must be borne in mind since laparotomy is not indicated in this case. Ascites puncture and bacteriological investigations come into consideration as diagnostic measures and antibiotics and prevention of the development of shock for treatment. Eight personal cases are reported which presented with a picture of acute abdomen because of an infection of the ascites.
