This paper provides an up-to-date overview of the main corporate private actors in the Spanish media system. The text updates the main figures for the corporate owners of media in Spain in the early 2009 through the analysis of public corporate information available: financial results, ownership, origin, main media assets, degree of multimedia activities, degree of diversification outside the media market and market share. The goal is to assess the degree of concentration that the sector maintains, as well as the financial strength held by media groups operating in Spain in front of financial crisis starting in 2007. Data shows a high degree of concentration and financial dependence.
