Abstract
Photocatalytic oxidation of thiourea over irradiated TiO2 particles is studied. The kinetics of thiourea removal and the influence of essential parameters, like mass of catalyst in solution and intensity of light are described. Analysis of intermediate and reaction products show the presence of refractory organics like cyanamide and dicyanamide, which are responsible for the stability of the total organic carbon (TOC) in solution. A change in pH after thiourea reaction gives the conditions needed for TOC decrease.
