A new genus of Laboulbeniales, with one species, Parvomyces merophysiae, is described on Merophysia formicaria from Spain. Parvomyces may belong in the Stigmatomycetinae of the Laboulbeniaceae. However, its perithecium is very different from those of other genera in this subtribe. Two adjacent vertical rows of outer wall cells are narrower and have fewer cells (the two rows produced by cell n) than the other two adjacent rows, which produce distinctive curving apical cells and possibly undergo division of the second and third cells from the base late in development. © 1995, British Mycological Society.
